BaZi Relationship Compatibility

See how BaZi compatibility is traditionally assessed between two charts, what element interactions do and do not prove, and how to use a comparison without letting it decide a relationship.

Are we compatible, according to our bazi charts?

Comparing two BaZi charts is one of the oldest uses of the framework — the classical heh hun practice families once consulted before marriages. The modern, honest version of the same activity looks at how the two charts’ elements interact and what the tradition says about it, while refusing the old authority: a chart comparison can organize a conversation about differences, and it cannot rule on whether two specific people should stay together.

Use AI Bazi Chart

Enter a birth date, optional time, gender and calendar type to build a bazi chart for free, then optionally request an AI-generated interpretation through traditional Chinese astrology concepts, for entertainment.

Reference only: the entry credit pack is US$3 for 600 credits. This is a pack price, not a per-report quote. Check the tool and checkout for current credit requirements, availability and pricing.

After registration, eligible users can claim 50 credits once, subject to a daily limited quota. Credits are not automatically awarded at signup and this does not promise a free report. Current claim terms and amounts are shown in the product.

What to prepare

  • For a full comparison, both people’s birth dates and times are needed, each entered in the calendar the source used, with both genders selected — gender affects luck-pillar direction, which some comparisons reference.
  • The chart tool’s comparison mode takes a simplified second person (date, time, gender, calendar) without a birth city, so the second chart’s true solar time correction is not applied.
  • Get consent before running someone else’s birth data. Birth details are personal information, and a compatibility score is not a reason to process another person’s data without their knowledge.
  • No photos are involved; birth data is the entire input. Missing birth times make hour-pillar comparisons unavailable — treat those as unknown rather than neutral.

What a chart comparison can actually show

The mechanics are ordinary chart arithmetic applied twice: how each chart’s elements produce or control the other’s, whether shared elements cluster, whether either chart has what the other lacks in the tradition’s terms. These observations are checkable from the two chart displays. They describe relations between symbolic categories — and that is all they describe.

The classical practice added social context: families compared charts partly to screen taboos and alliances. Stripped of that authority, what remains useful is the conversation a comparison can prompt — noticing where two people’s stated tendencies differ, and talking about them. The chart gives you the agenda, not the verdict.

Compatibility scores are not verdicts

Any system that outputs a percentage or grade from two birth dates is compressing a symbolic comparison into a number. The number has no predictive validation: relationships endure across every score, and fail across every score. If a generated report scores your pairing low, it is reporting the tradition’s categories, not your future; if it scores high, the same applies in the flattering direction.

The healthier use runs the other way: bring the real questions — communication habits, money styles, handling of conflict — and at most let the comparison supply vocabulary for discussing them. Never use it to screen partners, justify an ending the two of you have not honestly discussed, or override what the relationship itself is telling both of you.

What this reading cannot tell you

For entertainment purposes only. Palmistry, face reading and BaZi are cultural interpretations, not scientifically validated assessments or predictions. Do not use them for medical, financial, employment or relationship decisions.

  • A chart comparison cannot establish whether two people are soulmates, will marry, or will stay together.
  • It does not measure a specific person’s feelings, fidelity or intentions, and must not be used to screen partners, employees or tenants.
  • Scores and grades from any compatibility tool are summaries of symbolic categories without predictive validity.

How to run a chart comparison responsibly

  1. Collect both birth data sets with consent

Get each person’s birth date, time, gender and calendar type, and make sure the other person knows their data is being used.

  2. Build the comparison

Open AI Bazi Chart, enter the first person’s full data, add the second person in comparison mode, and review both charts side by side.

  3. Verify the element interactions

Check the reported producing, controlling and shared-element claims against the two chart displays before reading any commentary.

  4. Turn the output into conversation

Use the comparison’s themes as prompts for a real conversation about differences. Let the relationship’s own evidence, not the score, carry the decision.

Frequently asked questions

Can I compare charts without the other person’s birth time?
Yes, but the comparison will lack hour-pillar interactions for that person. Treat that part as unknown. Also get the person’s consent for using their birth data — the time is less important than their knowledge that the comparison is happening.
Are same-element couples more compatible?
The tradition reads shared elements as familiarity and clashing elements as friction, but this is symbolic vocabulary, not a measured pattern. Couples of every element combination succeed and fail; no pairing is validated as best.
What if the report says we are incompatible?
It is reporting the framework’s categories. A low score does not predict breakup and does not justify ending a relationship you have not discussed openly. Use it, at most, as a prompt to talk about the differences it names.
Is this the same as heh hun (八字合婚)?
It is the same tradition, updated in purpose. Classical heh hun carried familial and social authority over marriages; this page treats the mechanics as a reflection exercise between consenting adults, with no binding claim.
Does the compatibility result change over time?
The charts themselves do not change — they are fixed to birth data. Some interpretations discuss how current luck pillars interact with both charts, which varies by year, but those layers add framing, not predictive power.
