BaZi Ten Gods
Learn what the Ten Gods label in a BaZi chart, how each relation is derived from your Day Master, and why these labels describe categories rather than people or events.

What do the Ten Gods in my bazi chart actually label?
The Ten Gods are the working vocabulary of BaZi interpretation. Each one names a fixed relation between your Day Master and another stem in the chart — same element, output, wealth, officer or resource, each in a direct or indirect polarity. They are derived by rule, the way arithmetic derives a sum. This guide explains the derivation and the common overreach: treating a label as a literal person, date or guarantee.
Use AI Bazi Chart
Enter a birth date, optional time, gender and calendar type to build a bazi chart for free, then optionally request an AI-generated interpretation through traditional Chinese astrology concepts, for entertainment.
Reference only: the entry credit pack is US$3 for 600 credits. This is a pack price, not a per-report quote. Check the tool and checkout for current credit requirements, availability and pricing.
After registration, eligible users can claim 50 credits once, subject to a daily limited quota. Credits are not automatically awarded at signup and this does not promise a free report. Current claim terms and amounts are shown in the product.
What to prepare
- A chart with all four pillars is needed, so enter your birth time if you have it. Without the hour pillar, any Ten Gods that would appear there are simply absent from the reading.
- Enter the date in the calendar your source used (solar or lunar) and select your gender; errors here shift pillars and change which relations appear.
- Have the chart visible while reading any interpretation, so you can match each named Ten God to the actual stem position it comes from.
- No photo or document is needed. If the birth time is unknown, prefer reports that say what is unavailable over reports that guess the hour pillar.
Derived, not discovered
Every Ten God comes from comparing one stem’s element and polarity against the Day Master’s. Same element with the same polarity is one label; same element with opposite polarity is another. Because the derivation is mechanical, you can verify each label yourself from the chart display: find the stem, apply the element relation, confirm the polarity. This check takes minutes and catches most mislabeling.
The Ten Gods are often described as ten archetypes — output as expression, wealth as resources managed, officer as structure and accountability, resource as support and learning. These are the tradition’s category names. An interpretation uses them to discuss themes in your chart the way a grammar uses parts of speech; they are not entities that exist outside the framework.
Labels describe relations, not specific people
A common overreach is reading the Direct Officer star as your literal boss or future husband, or the Wealth star as guaranteed income. The traditional texts themselves are more careful: the label marks a category of relation in the chart’s structure. Whether and how such a theme appears in your life is exactly what the framework cannot establish.
When an AI-generated report mentions a Ten God, first confirm the label is correctly derived from your chart. Then read its commentary as discussion of a theme — for example, how you might respond to structure — rather than a claim about identifiable individuals or dated events. Keep the two layers separate and the reading stays useful.
What this reading cannot tell you
For entertainment purposes only. Palmistry, face reading and BaZi are cultural interpretations, not scientifically validated assessments or predictions. Do not use them for medical, financial, employment or relationship decisions.
- Ten Gods labels cannot identify your actual partner, boss, children or competitors as specific people.
- They do not predict marriage counts, wealth amounts or career titles, and should not be used to time major decisions.
- Without a birth time, hour-pillar relations are missing; a report that fills them in by assumption is less reliable than one that marks them unknown.
How to review the Ten Gods in your chart
Build the chart with your birth time
Open AI Bazi Chart and enter date, time, gender and calendar type so all four pillars and their stems are present.
Locate your Day Master
Find the Heavenly Stem of the day pillar. Every Ten God in your chart is defined relative to this stem.
Verify a few labels yourself
Pick two or three stems, compare element and polarity against the Day Master, and check the relation names using the background article.
Read interpretations as theme discussions
If you request a paid reading, match each named Ten God to a chart position you verified, and treat its commentary as traditional vocabulary rather than fact about people or events.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need my birth time to see my Ten Gods?
- For the full set, yes — the hour pillar contributes its own stems and relations. Without the time you still get relations from the year, month and day pillars; treat the missing ones as unknown rather than absent from your life.
- Is "Ten Gods" a religious concept?
- No. "Gods" translates a classical term for the ten relational labels; nothing about the derivation involves worship, deities or faith. It is bookkeeping between stems, comparable to naming aspects in Western astrology.
- Can the Ten Gods tell me my ideal career?
- They provide the tradition’s vocabulary for themes like structure, expression or resource management. That vocabulary can be a reflection prompt about work style, but it is not a validated aptitude test and should not screen career choices.
- Why do two reports give different Ten Gods labels?
- Usually because one chart was built with different birth data — a different time, calendar mode or day boundary. Occasionally an AI report mislabels a relation. Recompute the label from your own chart before trusting either version.
- Which Ten God matters most?
- Interpretations commonly weight the stems closest to the Day Master, but schools differ and there is no validated ranking. Treat any single-star emphasis in a report as the author’s framing choice.
